Automation Controls Engineer

A manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Automation Controls Engineer to design, develop, install, modify, and troubleshoot electrical control systems, automation equipment, and industrial machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop electrical and controls system designs based on established engineering principles and project requirements.
- Create electrical schematics, technical documentation, and installation materials required for control systems.
- Program and maintain PLCs, HMIs, and automation controllers, with a focus on reliability, safety, and ease of troubleshooting.
- Install, modify, troubleshoot, and repair electrical control systems and automated equipment.
- Develop scope documents for new and existing equipment supplied by external vendors.
- Establish technical specifications and acceptance criteria for equipment and control systems.
- Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations to support electrical and controls system design.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, maintenance, and other cross-functional teams to deliver effective automation solutions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and automation processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or demonstrated equivalent capability gained through at least 5 years of experience as an Automation Technician.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of electrical controls, automation systems, PLCs, HMIs, and industrial equipment.
- Ability to develop and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and maintenance functions.
- Knowledge of Lean and/or Six Sigma principles is preferred.
