📍 Dayton, Ohio (Onsite)
About the Business
A highly respected industrial manufacturing business with a long-standing reputation for engineering excellence, operational performance, and strong leadership culture are hiring a Strategy & Business Development Manager.
Part of a larger publicly listed global industrial group, the Business Unit itself generates approximately $170m in annual revenue and has been identified internally as a key growth platform within the wider group. Backed by a broader multi-billion-dollar parent organisation, the business is now investing further in both organic growth initiatives and strategic acquisitions to expand into new markets and adjacencies.
Role Overview
This role reports directly to the Business Unit President and sits at the centre of that growth agenda.
It’s an excellent next step for someone who has developed strong analytical and strategic capability early in their career and is now looking to move into a more visible, business-facing role with direct exposure to executive leadership and real commercial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
• Leading the annual strategic planning cycle alongside the President
• Conducting market assessments, competitive analysis, and customer insight work
• Identifying new growth opportunities, market adjacencies, and expansion areas
• Supporting an active M&A pipeline including target screening, diligence, valuation support, and business case development
• Building executive-level presentations and strategic recommendations
• Working cross-functionally with engineering, product management, commercial, operations, and finance teams to translate strategy into execution
Candidate background
• 3-6 years of total professional experience
• Exposure to strategy consulting, corporate development, business analytics, strategic finance, or business development
• Experience within an industrial, manufacturing, engineered products, energy, infrastructure, or related environment
• Strong analytical and financial modelling capability
• Experience working with large data sets, market analysis, competitive intelligence, or growth strategy projects
• An MBA or Master’s degree preferred, though not essential for candidates with strong relevant experience
• Ideally an undergraduate background in engineering, technical, economics, finance, analytics, or a related discipline
• The ability to operate in a highly collaborative, fast-moving environment with senior leadership exposure
Strong analytical capability is critical in this role. The successful person will need to be comfortable working with complex data sets, market information, and financial analysis but equally important is the ability to interpret that data, build a clear narrative, and influence decision-making at leadership level.
The business is specifically looking for someone with high potential and strong long-term leadership capability. The role offers significant visibility, mentorship from senior leadership, and a genuine platform for future progression within the wider organisation.
