Key Responsibilities
- Chiller & HVAC Specialist
- Central Plant Care: Maintain and repair large-tonnage centrifugal/screw chillers and cooling towers.
- System Balancing: Monitor chilled water loops, pumps, and VFDs to ensure peak efficiency.
- EPA Compliance: Manage refrigerant recovery and meticulous record-keeping.
- Torque & Tensioning: Reinstall components using calibrated torque wrenches and strict cross-pattern (star) bolting sequences to ensure zero-leak startups.
- Confined Space Operations: Lead and participate in Permit-Required Confined Space Entries (tanks, vessels, pits) following all atmospheric testing and hole-watch protocols.
- Hazardous Materials: Safely handle and contain hazardous chemicals during equipment teardowns, ensuring full compliance with SDS guidelines and environmental regulations.
- Torque & Tensioning: Reinstall components using calibrated torque wrenches and strict cross-pattern (star) bolting sequences to ensure zero-leak startups.
- Confined Space Operations: Lead and participate in Permit-Required Confined Space Entries (tanks, vessels, pits) following all atmospheric testing and hole-watch protocols.
- Hazardous Materials: Safely handle and contain hazardous chemicals during equipment teardowns, ensuring full compliance with SDS guidelines and environmental regulations
- General Mechanical & Plant Maintenance
- Mechanical Power Transmission: Repair and maintain gearboxes, drive belts, bearings, and conveyor systems.
- Fluid Systems: Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic and hydraulic components, including valves, actuators, and compressors.
- Pipefitting: Perform basic pipe repairs and modifications for water, air, and steam lines.
- Rigging & Installation: Assist in moving heavy machinery and installing new plant equipment.
- Facility Upkeep: Address general mechanical failures throughout the plant to ensure zero production downtime.
- The "Hybrid" Skillset: You have a solid background in HVAC/Chillers PLUS general industrial mechanical experience.
- Certification: EPA Universal Certification (Required).
- Tool Proficiency: Expert-level use of hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers), and diagnostic gear.
- Problem Solver: You can look at a broken pump or a seized bearing and know exactly how to pull it apart and fix it right.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work in tight spaces, at heights, and lift 35 lbs.
- Woking at Heights: Must be able to work at higher elevations and has Fall Protection training.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment, including inspections, lubrication, and adjustments
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions
- Conduct repairs and replacements of faulty components, ensuring that equipment is restored to optimal working condition
- Follow preventive maintenance schedules and procedures to minimize equipment breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment logs, and inventory
- Collaborate with other team members and departments to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure smooth operations
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment
- Continuously improve maintenance processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
YOU MUST HAVE
- Certification: EPA Universal Certification (Required).
- High School Diploma/GED required; Associate degree or Technical Certification in E&I or Electrical Apprenticeship preferred.
- 3 years of industrial maintenance experience. Specific experience in valve shop operations or heavy industrial piping environments is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with rigging and lifting equipment for valve removal.
- Proficiency with HART communicators and loop calibrators.
- Ability to read P&IDs, loop drawings, and electrical schematics.
- Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and perform heavy lifting (up to 35 lbs) associated with valve maintenance.
