TITLE: Manufacturing Engineer I (Electrical Engineering)

LOCATION: Milwaukee, WI

SCHEDULE: Hybrid

PAY: $60,000-$85,000

TYPE: Direct Hire/Permanent


What you will accomplish as a Manufacturing Engineer:

The Manufacturing Engineer plays a key role in driving improvements in safety, quality, productivity, and cost across manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for developing and optimizing manufacturing processes, supporting new product introduction, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, the Manufacturing Engineer applies technical expertise, analytical problem-solving, and process improvement methodologies to enhance operational performance and manufacturing readiness.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Process Ownership & Project Execution:

  • Lead process improvement initiatives focused on reducing waste, increasing productivity, and improving operational efficiency.
  • Manage and execute projects that deliver measurable cost savings and performance improvements.
  • Conduct and lead Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs), contributing findings to lessons learned and future design reviews.
  • Support manufacturing readiness activities for new product launches and engineering design changes.

Manufacturing Engineering & Technical Support

  • Design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and equipment to optimize production workflows.
  • Utilize CAD software, including SolidWorks, to create and refine models, layouts, tooling designs, and assemblies.
  • Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) efforts to improve product quality and reduce production costs.
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering change documentation, and production deviations.
  • Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions.

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including Kaizen events, 5S activities, and value stream mapping.
  • Perform root cause analysis to identify production issues and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Analyze manufacturing and production data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Recommend and support implementation of projects that deliver strong return on investment through cost reduction and process optimization.

REQUIRED Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 0-2 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering environment.
  • Knowledgeable of manufacturing processes (e.g., welding, metal fabrication, assembly, process documentation, hydraulics, power tools, electrical systems, PLC is a plus).
  • Exposure an interest in PCB boards, embedded systems, firmware, radio frequency (RF), etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Biomedical, or similar degree
  • Proven success in leading projects that deliver measurable improvements in cost, quality, or efficiency.
  • Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Knowledgeable of Lean methodologies, including DFMEA/PFMEA, Kaizen, and 5S.
  • Able to manage and analyzing routings, applying overhead rates (e.g., machine vs. labor), and ensuring accurate cost modeling to drive financial accountability.
  • Able to coordinate Bills of Materials (BOMs), managing work order posting phases, and implementing pick/backflush strategies aligned with production layouts for optimal efficiency.

Salary : $60,000 - $85,000
