What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Hardware Engineer position at SoloPoint Solutions?
Digital Hardware Engineer
Fremont, CA · Onsite (remote may be considered)
Contract-to-Hire
We build test solutions for semiconductor devices across wafer level, singulated die, and packaged part form — serving applications in electric vehicles, EV charging infrastructure, solar and wind power, computing, advanced AI processors, data and telecom infrastructure, and solid-state storage. Our engineering team is tight-knit and tenured, with many members having been with us for 10-15 years.
About the role
We're looking for an experienced Digital Hardware Engineer to own the design of digital circuits on our next-generation test module — from FPGA and memory design through PCIe and serial interfaces, all the way to first prototype bring-up.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- 5 years of relevant experience digital circuit design (Circuits, Memory Sections, Serial Interfaces in a prototype / build environment
- DRAM,JTAG, I2C
- Design and Transmission line knowledge of Pin Electronics
- Experience Managing PCB layout to ensure signal integrity
- Proficiency in CAD tools such as OrCAD or others.
- Experience with Digital sub-system’s design.
- Familiarity with large FPGA design.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for designing the digital circuits on the module. This includes the FPGAs with their configuration and clock circuits.
- Design the memory sections. There will be DRAM attached to the FPGAs that will need to be designed in.
- Design the PCIe interface between the module’s receiving connector to the FPGA
- Design several serial interfaces such as JTAG, I2C, etc… from the FPGAs to other components on board.
- Work with the Analog Designer to ensure all digital components are powered properly including voltage levels, loading, grounding and noise management.
- Design the Pin Electronics circuits. These are off - the-shelf IC’s but require transmission line knowledge to ensure proper signal delivery.
- Design all the interconnects in and out of the module via existing connectors.
