Key Qualifications
- Active Texas teaching license for the visually impaired is required
- Experience supporting students with visual impairments in an educational environment preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with students, families, and educational teams
- Commitment to creating accessible, engaging learning experiences tailored to individual student needs
- Ability to maintain organized records, develop individualized education plans (IEPs), and monitor student progress
- Provide direct instruction, support, and resources for students with visual impairments according to their IEPs
- Adapt and develop curriculum materials and teaching strategies to make them accessible
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to ensure student success and inclusion
- Assess student needs, progress, and provide appropriate recommendations or referrals
- Participate in meetings and professional development to stay current on best practices in visual impairment education
- Support students’ social and emotional growth, fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment
