Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Kenner, LA

This full-time position is seeking a qualified educator to serve as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) working with K-12 students. The role supports students across multiple schools in the New Orleans, LA area under the Jefferson Parish school district. The contract begins as soon as possible and extends through May 22, 2026, covering the current school year.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver specialized instruction and support to visually impaired students, ensuring accessibility and individualized educational strategies.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to develop and implement IEPs tailored to students needs.
• Utilize adaptive technologies and materials designed for blindness or visual impairments.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with district policies.
• Participate in professional development and district-required meetings.
  
  

Qualifications

• Active Louisiana DOE certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) is required.
• Experience working with visually impaired students in K-12 settings preferred.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work full-time following the district calendar (35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch).
• Candidates must be currently certified and ready to begin immediately; no pending licensure applications will be considered.
