A full-time opportunity is available for certified Teachers for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to serve students in the New Orleans, LA area, specifically within Jefferson Parish. This contract position provides the chance to work as an itinerant educator, supporting a diverse caseload across various schools. The assignment is scheduled to start as soon as possible and continues through May 22, 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments across multiple schools in the district
- Design, adapt, and implement individualized education plans tailored to student needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and support staff to promote inclusive learning environments
- Maintain accurate records and comply with district guidelines and state regulations
- Participate actively in professional development and case conferences
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Louisiana DOE Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) is required
- Experience working with visually impaired students preferred but candidates with 0-2 years of relevant experience will be considered
- Ability to pass district-required drug screening and fingerprinting background checks
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Flexibility to travel between assigned schools daily
Position Details:
- Full-time schedule, Monday through Friday, 7 hours per day plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch, aligned with the school calendar (35 hours weekly)
- Itinerant role, with multiple schools assigned (to be determined)
