Qualifications & Desired Experience
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in CTICU or equivalent critical care cardiac nursing
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Proficiency with Epic electronic medical records system mandatory
- Skilled in managing complex cardiac patients utilizing devices like ECMO, IABP, Impella, LVAD/RVAD
- Ability to conduct detailed patient presentations twice per shift
- Experience with Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips/Edwards monitoring systems preferred
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive critical care nursing to adults post-cardiac surgery, including patients supported by mechanical circulatory devices
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including intensivists, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and resource nurses
- Maintain meticulous documentation using Epic EMR
- Participate in scheduled patient rounds and presentations at 3:00 PM and 8:30 PM
- Float to other adult critical care units as needed to support staffing
- Adhere to unit protocols with a culture emphasizing teamwork and proactive care
- 12-hour day shifts (0700-1900), scheduled 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation includes every Thursday, Friday, Saturday (night shifts)
- Travelers expected to work approximately 75% of holidays
- No on-call or call-back responsibilities required
