Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) Registered Nurse in Monroe, NC

Providing specialized care to adult patients recovering from complex cardiac surgeries requires expertise, precision, and empathy. This role focuses on delivering high-acuity nursing in a Cardiac and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at a distinguished Level 1 trauma and teaching hospital. The unit manages patients with advanced cardiac support devices such as ECMO, Impella, LVADs, and more, maintaining an average patient census of 11 with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2.

Qualifications & Desired Experience

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in CTICU or equivalent critical care cardiac nursing
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Proficiency with Epic electronic medical records system mandatory
• Skilled in managing complex cardiac patients utilizing devices like ECMO, IABP, Impella, LVAD/RVAD
• Ability to conduct detailed patient presentations twice per shift
• Experience with Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips/Edwards monitoring systems preferred

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive critical care nursing to adults post-cardiac surgery, including patients supported by mechanical circulatory devices
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including intensivists, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and resource nurses
• Maintain meticulous documentation using Epic EMR
• Participate in scheduled patient rounds and presentations at 3:00 PM and 8:30 PM
• Float to other adult critical care units as needed to support staffing
• Adhere to unit protocols with a culture emphasizing teamwork and proactive care
  
  

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts (0700-1900), scheduled 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation includes every Thursday, Friday, Saturday (night shifts)
• Travelers expected to work approximately 75% of holidays
• No on-call or call-back responsibilities required
