Residential Outside Sales Representative

A growing building products company is seeking a Residential Outside Sales Representative to develop and grow the Charlotte market. This is a true outside sales / territory development role focused on building relationships with custom home builders, residential contractors, and other key contacts in the residential construction space.
This position is highly field-based, with regular jobsite visits and minimal office time. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys prospecting, building new relationships, managing a territory, and driving revenue growth in a competitive market.
Responsibilities
- Develop new business with custom home builders, residential builders, contractors, and construction-related contacts throughout the Charlotte market
- Grow branch revenue and brand awareness through proactive prospecting, territory development, and relationship building
- Use permit data, market research, referrals, networking, and field activity to identify new opportunities
- Manage and grow existing accounts while continuing to hunt for new business
- Prepare quotes for ISOKERN fireplace products and related materials
- Review house plans, perform basic take-offs, and identify product opportunities
- Conduct jobsite visits, including framing checks and follow-up with builders/contractors
- Track activity, pipeline, quotes, and customer information in Microsoft D365 / CRM
- Build long-term relationships by providing consultative support, responsiveness, and product knowledge
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of B2B outside sales experience
- Strong hunting / new business development background
- Proven success building a territory or developing new accounts
- Comfortable spending most of the time in the field and visiting residential jobsites
- Strong communication, follow-up, organization, and pipeline management skills
- Competitive, self-motivated, and able to work independently
- Experience using Microsoft Office and/or CRM systems
- Reliable vehicle required for frequent field and jobsite visits; truck or SUV preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs as needed
Preferred Background
- Experience selling into residential construction, custom home builders, contractors, building products, manufacturing, or related industries
- Existing relationships in the Charlotte residential construction market
- Ability to read house plans, understand take-offs, or work with technical product specifications
- Prior territory growth, market expansion, or branch revenue growth experience
Ideal Candidate Profile
The strongest fit will be a true outside sales hunter who knows how to open doors, build trust with builders and contractors, and stay organized while managing a field-based territory. This person should be comfortable being out in the market daily, creating their own schedule, visiting jobsites, and driving new business activity without heavy oversight.
