What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Services Associate - Accounts Payable/Receivable (Edgewood, MD) position at Smiths Detection?
The Financial Service Associate (FSA) will work very closely with the Financial Services Manager. Individual will be responsible for maintaining day to day collections, invoice processing, expense report auditing, and working closely with our Invoicing and Sales Departments. Past experience with dispute or problem invoices is a must. SAP, MS Excel and previous cash applications experience a plus.
- Collections of accounts receivable current and past due invoices
- Communicating proactively and clearly with external and internal customers.
- Ability to reconcile customer/supplier accounts and statements.
- Ensure that follow-up contact is established with customers in a timely manner.
- Process credit card payments in a timely manner.
- Post and apply cash correctly and timely.
- Interface with Sales, Order Entry, Billing and Cash Applications.
- Accurately document and notate customer accounts, accordingly.
- Comply with Company Health, Safety, Environmental, Security and U.S. Export control policies.
- Administer and use Experian credit rating system to evaluate credit.
- Assist and comply with all internal and external audit requests.
- Invoice verification and voucher entry
- Comply with and ensure department compliance with Company health, safety and environmental policies.
- Comply with all applicable U.S. export control and security regulations
- Implementation of projects
- Resolve open issues with parked documents

- Five or more years related experience in collections and or invoice processing. Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment is desired.
- Analytical, ambitious, results oriented, inquisitive person motivated to succeed.
- Organized, polished financial professional confident in communicating orally and in writing.
- Must be accustomed to meeting reporting deadlines.
- Must be able to multi-task in a busy environment and work well with a team.
- Experience with Excel, basic MS Windows, Word and SAP desired.
- Spanish/Portuguese speaking a plus
