Location: San Diego, CA
Schedule: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday–Friday
Pay Rate: $20/hr
Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and physically capable Material Handler (Record Center Specialist) to support daily operations in our secure records facility. This role involves consistent physical activity, including lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling, and operating material‐handling equipment. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast‐paced, labor‐intensive environment.
Work Schedule:
- 5 days per week
- 9‐hour shifts (includes a 30‐minute lunch and two 15‐minute breaks)
Key Responsibilities
- Move, lift, carry, load, and arrange boxes, bins, and totes ranging from 24 lbs to over 100 lbs
- Process incoming and outgoing orders for files, books, binders, backup tapes, and other stored materials
- Safely operate hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other material‐handling aids
- Load and shrink‐wrap pallets at ground level or on carts
- Load boxes onto pallets and load pallets onto trucks manually or with equipment
- Use handheld scanners and proprietary computer systems to track orders and locate materials
- Read and interpret labels, order documents, and written instructions
- Climb and balance on ladders as needed
- Work on concrete and uneven surfaces throughout the shift
Essential Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk, stand, kneel, squat, stoop, crawl, and twist for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs without assistance on a regular basis
- Ability to push, pull, and maneuver carts and pallet jacks
- Ability to move materials up and down stairs and inclines
Safety Requirements
Protective footwear is required and must meet:
- ASTM F2413‐11 Standard Specification for Protective (Safety) Toe Cap Footwear
- Slip‐resistant rating of “Better” or “Best”
Qualifications
- Ability to read and write English
- Comfortable with physically demanding work
- Experience with warehouse, material handling, or order processing preferred but not required
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
