The Lead Maintenance Engineer is responsible for overseeing the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of all resort facilities, guest rooms, public spaces, marina areas, pools, and back-of-house systems. This role ensures the property is safe, fully operational, and maintained to the highest standards to support an exceptional guest experience aligned with our “barefoot luxury” brand.
The Lead Maintenance Engineer supervises maintenance staff, manages preventive maintenance programs, coordinates vendors, and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management

Supervise, train, and schedule maintenance team members.

Assign and prioritize daily work orders and projects.

Lead by example with a hands-on approach when necessary.

Conduct regular team meetings and safety briefings.

Assist in hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations.
Facility & Equipment Maintenance

Oversee preventive maintenance programs for:

HVAC systems
-
Plumbing and electrical systems
-
Pools and spa equipment
-
Kitchen and bar equipment
-
Elevators
-
Marina utilities and dock systems
-

Ensure all guest rooms meet quality and safety standards.

Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies.

Maintain resort grounds, beach access points, and exterior areas.
Operational Oversight

Manage work order system to ensure timely completion.

Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation.
-
Monitor inventory levels and order necessary supplies.
-
Oversee proper storage and organization of tools and equipment.
-
Ensure liquor rooms, mechanical rooms, and utility areas remain secure and orderly.
Vendor & Project Management
-
Coordinate and supervise outside contractors.

Obtain bids for repairs and capital improvements.

Assist with budgeting and cost control.

Support renovation projects and property upgrades.
Safety & Compliance
-
Ensure compliance with OSHA, fire, health, and safety regulations.

Conduct regular property safety inspections.

Maintain pool chemical logs and safety documentation.
-
Support emergency preparedness and storm procedures.
-
Ensure proper lock-out/tag-out procedures are followed.
Qualifications
-
5 years of maintenance experience in hospitality, resort, or multi-unit property.

2 years in a supervisory or lead role preferred.

Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Ability to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Availability for weekends, holidays, and on-call emergencies.
Work Environment
This position requires both indoor and outdoor work across the property, including beach, marina, mechanical rooms, rooftops, and guest areas. The role requires flexibility and availability for emergency response situations.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma, or relevant experience preferred.
- Must have a minimum of three years’ hands-on experience in one of the following disciplines: 1) Minor Electrical 2) Painting 3) Plumbing 4) A/C repairs. 5) Marina Operations
- Be able to obtain a Certified Pool Operation license.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License to operate company equipment.
