What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Crew Member position at Sir Home Improvements?
Start Here. Learn the Trade. Build Your Career.
Starting at $21/hour Paid Training | Full-Time | Year-Round
Not everyone starts a construction career knowing how to install windows, build a bathroom, or complete a remodeling project.
What matters is whether you're willing to learn, work hard, take direction, and get better.
SIR Home Improvements is looking for dependable, hardworking Construction Crew Members to join our growing production team. This is an entry-level opportunity designed for someone who wants to learn residential remodeling from experienced professionals and develop the skills to advance into more specialized installation roles.
You don't need years of construction experience. You need the right attitude and work ethic.
At SIR, our philosophy is simple:
Hire for Personality. Train for Skill.
For more than 45 years, we've been helping homeowners improve their homes while developing skilled professionals within our company.
Start at $21/Hour While You Learn
You'll start at $21/hour with paid hands-on training while working alongside experienced members of our production team.
You'll learn how our crews prepare for jobs, work safely in customers' homes, use tools and materials properly, and complete remodeling work to SIR's standards.
As you develop your skills, demonstrate that you can be trusted with more responsibility, and advance into specialized installation roles, your earning potential can increase significantly — with some specialized positions offering earning potential equivalent to $50–$70 /hour.
Your first position doesn't have to be your final position.
Learn → Develop your skills → Take on more responsibility → Increase your earning potential
What You'll Do
As a Construction Crew Member, you'll work directly alongside experienced remodeling professionals and learn the skills that can help you advance within our production team.
Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:
- Assisting experienced crews with residential remodeling projects
- Preparing tools, materials, and work areas before jobs
- Loading, unloading, and organizing materials
- Assisting with installation and remodeling work
- Learning to safely use hand and power tools
- Following direction from experienced installers and crew leaders
- Maintaining clean, organized, and safe job sites
- Helping protect customers' homes, flooring, furniture, and property
- Cleaning and preparing work areas throughout the project
- Learning construction and installation techniques
- Helping crews complete projects efficiently and correctly
- Communicating professionally with homeowners and team members
- Taking on additional responsibilities as your skills develop
This isn't a position where you'll simply be doing the same task every day.
You'll be exposed to different aspects of residential remodeling and have the opportunity to learn from people who have been doing this work for years.
No Construction Experience? That's Okay.
We are willing to train the right person.
You may be a great fit if you've worked in:
- Construction
- Remodeling
- Window installation
- Flooring
- Carpentry
- Framing
- Landscaping
- Manufacturing
- Warehouse
- Moving
- Painting
- Plumbing
- HVAC
- Concrete
- General labor
- Other hands-on or physically demanding work
Maybe you've never worked in construction at all.
If you're someone who likes working with your hands, learns quickly, shows up when you're supposed to, and takes pride in doing things the right way, we want to hear from you.
What We're Looking For
We're not looking for someone who needs to know everything on day one.
We're looking for someone who is willing to learn and earn their way forward.
The people who tend to succeed in this role are:
- Reliable — you show up, on time, ready to work
- Hardworking — you don't need someone standing over you to keep moving
- Coachable — you can take direction and apply feedback
- Hands-on — you enjoy physical work and working with tools
- Accountable — when something goes wrong, you own it and help fix it
- Team-oriented — you understand that a great job takes everyone doing their part
- Detail-oriented — you care about doing the job correctly, not just getting it done
- Professional — you understand that you're working in someone's home
- Self-motivated — you look for ways to help instead of waiting to be told every step
- Growth-minded — you want to learn more and take on greater responsibility
You don't have to be the most experienced person in the room.
You do need to be the person who is willing to learn from the people around you.
What You'll Need

We understand that skills can be taught.
What is much harder to teach is work ethic, reliability, accountability, and the desire to get better.
If you make a mistake, we expect you to own it.
If you don't know how to do something, we expect you to ask.
If someone shows you a better way, we expect you to listen.

That's how you build the skills that lead to more responsibility and better opportunities.
