About the Role
Our client, an internationally recognized law firm, is seeking a Leveraged Finance Associate to join its growing Corporate practice. This team advises market leading private equity sponsors, corporate borrowers, lenders, and financial institutions on a broad range of debt finance transactions.
This is a unique opportunity to work on sophisticated, high-profile transactions within lean, collaborative deal teams, where associates are trusted with meaningful responsibility and the ability to make an immediate impact on the practice’s growth and success.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a core member of transaction teams on leveraged and acquisition financings, including senior and mezzanine loans, asset-based lending, dividend recapitalizations, and refinancing arrangements.
- Take ownership of drafting, reviewing, and negotiating key financing documents, ensuring accuracy and alignment with client objectives.
- Manage critical closing processes, coordinating with clients, counterparties, and internal teams to ensure smooth execution of deals.
- Collaborate closely with private equity sponsors, corporate borrowers, and lenders, including alternative and non-traditional financing sources.
- Contribute to strategic planning and problem-solving throughout the transaction lifecycle, identifying potential issues and proposing solutions.
Qualifications
- 4–5 years of leveraged finance experience, ideally handling a variety of debt financing transactions.
- Proven record of advising private equity sponsors, corporate borrowers, or lenders on complex financings across the capital structure.
- Experience leading or co-leading transaction workstreams, including drafting and negotiating credit agreements, commitment letters, and related documentation.
- Exposure to middle-market private equity deals and familiarity with alternative credit providers is advantageous.
- Comfortable taking ownership of key closing processes and coordinating across multiple parties in a deal.
- Must be admitted to and in good standing with the New York Bar.
- Submission of a deal sheet is required with the application.
