Our FinTech client in Jersey City, NJ is seeking a Project Manager / Product Owner for a long-term contract with potential to convert to full-time. This role serves as the bridge between product strategy and engineering execution, partnering with Product Managers and development teams to translate priorities into a well-managed backlog and successful Agile delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring stories are well-defined, groomed, and sprint-ready.
- Translate product requirements into epics, features, user stories, and acceptance criteria using AI-enabled tools where appropriate.
- Partner with Product Managers, Engineering, and Technical Leads to refine requirements, resolve blockers, and drive successful delivery.
- Lead Agile ceremonies, coordinate releases, manage risks and dependencies, and keep projects on track.
- Maintain Jira backlogs, roadmaps, dashboards, automation, and reporting to provide clear visibility into delivery progress.
- Leverage AI, Jira, and BI tools to improve delivery efficiency, reporting, and data-driven decision making.
- Track delivery metrics, support engineering operations, and promote continuous process improvement.
- Communicate project status, risks, and key decisions to Product Managers and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- 5–7 years of Project Management, evolving into a Product Owner within software development. Must be ok being a PM/PO.
- Strong Product Owner experience with backlog management, user story creation, and acceptance criteria.
- Hands-on experience with Agile (Scrum/Kanban), SDLC, release management, and Jira.
- Experience partnering closely with engineering teams to deliver software solutions.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced Agile environment.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Preferred:
- Experience with AI-enabled software development or digital transformation initiatives. GEN AI, MCP Connectors.
- Familiarity with Jira Product Discovery, DevOps, CI/CD, and engineering metrics (DORA).
- Experience creating dashboards and reporting using Jira and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker).
- Agile certifications such as CSPO, SAFe PO/PM, or PMI-ACP.
Salary : $65 - $75
