Responsible for the management of the manufacturing operation. Plans, directs, and coordinates the operations of all technical and production and support departments. Assumes responsibility for the development, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing methods. Develops manpower requirements and sets priorities for production schedules based on plan.
About the Role
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- In conjunction with the Plant Manager, determines plant policies consistent with company policies and directs and supervises the application of such policies to the assigned manufacturing operations.
- Drive Safety improvement through developing and improving processes, establishing safety culture, leading and participating in safety committees, and ensuring compliance with applicable EH&S regulations, policies and procedures. This includes responsibility for maintenance and care of the facility.
- Ensure proper maintenance of plant and production facilities (work centers) and machinery and equipment, including preventive maintenance program.
- Serve as the liaison between the Plant Manager and Functional Managers while leading others in achieving organizational goals.
- Responsible for establishing and managing projects, creating technical tasks and a budget to perform those tasks, and developing a time-phased program schedule.
- Recommends purchase of new capital equipment.
- Understand, develop, and leverage the company business systems.
- Plan, direct, and coordinate operational activities to meet company objectives and customer expectations.
- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement.
- Manage budgets, forecasts, and resource allocation to optimize operational costs.
- Provide value stream leadership through collaboration with other departments throughout the value stream.
- Ensure product and process compliance with all internal and external customer requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or similar.
- Drives a continuous improvement culture with an “improve everyday mentality.”
- Coordinates with Supply Chain to ensure efficient utilization of equipment and facilities.
- Reviews and approves recommendations of team in matters of personnel or rate changes.
- Performs other assignments as requested or as business needs require.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent knowledge to obtain expertise in departmental machinery.
- 8 years' metal cutting experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, with a minimum of 5 years' supervisory experience.
- Aerospace industry experience preferred.
- Experience working under AS 9100, ISO 9000 Quality Management System is required.
- Knowledge of operations, production management, personnel and a variety of office practices, operation of plant and office equipment, such as computers, etc. requiring some advanced skills knowledge, especially ERP systems and Microsoft Office suite.
- Lean Expert certification a plus.
- Six Sigma Blackbelt a plus.
