This Sr. Electrical Design Engineer will support a world-class Live Entertainment organization developing custom electrical systems that drive major live entertainment experiences across the globe... Everything from moving stage elements for the biggest musical performance acts in the world (Taylor Swift, Beyonce, NBA, Universal Studios, Virgin, etc) to automated attractions for national theme parks, cruise ships, and other custom large-scale immersive experiences.
This role is a mix of industrial electrical engineering for controls automation systems and creative problem-solving, where your work is truly seen and experienced by audiences around the world. The individual will work on highly visible, custom-engineered projects that are experienced by thousands to millions of people each year. Each project presents a new technical challenge, offering the opportunity to design systems that control motion, automation, and power distribution for dynamic entertainment environments.
You’ll Be Working On:
- Control systems for stage automation (lifts, hoists, winches, revolves, and moving structures)
- Electrical systems supporting theme park attractions and immersive experiences
- Automation and power distribution for cruise ships and entertainment venues
- Custom-built systems that combine industrial controls with creative engineering applications
Key Responsibilities:
- Design electrical control panels and enclosures for complex automation systems
- Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings using CAD tools
- Ensure designs comply with UL508A, NEC, and relevant safety standards
- Perform electrical load calculations, component selection, and system validation
- Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) and support procurement activities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, project managers, and installation teams
- Support system lifecycle activities, including design reviews, testing, and field support when needed
- Contribute to continuous improvement and value engineering initiatives
- Participate in occasional site visits, system validation, and commissioning support
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 3 - 5 years of experience in electrical design for industrial control systems
- Experience designing control panels / electrical enclosures
- Strong understanding of:
- UL508A standards
- NEC / NFPA codes
- Proficiency with electrical CAD tools (EPlan preferred, AutoCAD Electrical acceptable)
- Experience working with industrial automation components (PLCs, IO systems, drives, etc.)
- Ability to interpret and apply electrical safety and compliance standards
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with industrial automation hardware (Siemens, Beckhoff, Allen-Bradley, Phoenix Contact, etc.)
- Familiarity with industrial networks (e.g., EtherCAT)
- Exposure to functional safety systems
- Experience in OEM equipment design or custom machinery environments
- Background in entertainment, theme parks, or live production systems
- Experience with 3D modeling tools (Inventor, SolidWorks, etc.)
Work Environment & Travel:
- Primarily office-based design work (~80%)
- 10–20% travel for system validation, or retrofits.
- Travel is typically short-term (less than one week at a time)
