SHR Talent is partnering with an accounting services organization in Birmingham, AL in its search for an Accounts Payable Manager.
The Accounts Payable Manager will oversee the accounts payable function, supporting a large portfolio of multi-location hospitality and restaurant clients. The Accounts Payable Manager role will combine hands-on operational execution with team leadership responsibilities while helping support and improve a high-volume accounts payable environment.
While the Accounts Payable Manager opportunity is primarily remote, candidates must reside within approximately a 60-mile radius of Birmingham, AL for occasional in-person meetings, team collaboration, and training activities.
The organization is seeking someone who is process-oriented, detail-focused, and comfortable managing transactional accounting workflows across a complex, fast-paced operation. Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day accounts payable operations
- Manage and support a small accounts payable team
- Coordinate weekly check runs and payment processing activities
- Review invoice processing workflows and approvals
- Support vendor communication and issue resolution
- Assist with operational workflow development and process improvements
- Partner with restaurant operators and leadership regarding payment-related questions
- Monitor workload distribution and team productivity
- Assist with troubleshooting accounting and accounts payable discrepancies
- Ensure timely and accurate processing across multiple client entities
Qualifications:
- Prior accounts payable experience, required
- Leadership or supervisory experience, preferred
- High-volume accounts payable processing experience, strongly preferred
- Restaurant, hospitality, or multi-site accounting experience highly transferable
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and accounting systems such as Great Plains or Restaurant365, preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities
- Process improvement mindset and operationally driven approach
