What are the responsibilities and job description for the Group Exercise Instructor position at Sheridan County YMCA?
At the Y, you'll do more than lead workouts—you'll help people build confidence, improve their health, and find a sense of belonging.
We are looking for Instructors who are interested in teaching:
Power Up, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:15am
Strength Based Evening Classes
Group Cycling
Yoga
What You'll Do
Lead safe, fun, and engaging group fitness classes.
Create a welcoming environment where everyone feels encouraged and supported.
Modify exercises to accommodate different fitness levels, abilities, and health needs.
Build authentic relationships with members and foster a strong sense of community.
Educate participants on healthy living while staying within your scope of practice.
Track class attendance and maintain a safe exercise environment.
Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow YMCA policies and procedures.

Is willing to complete required YMCA certifications and trainings, including CPR, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, and emergency procedures within 90 days of hire.

Lead fitness classes safely and effectively.
Stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift as needed during instruction.
Demonstrate exercises and maintain an energetic teaching environment.
