As the Quality Technician, you will ensure that all vehicles, components, and materials meet internal and customer quality standards. You will perform inspections, support root cause investigations, document findings, and work closely with production and engineering to drive continuous improvement in build quality and compliance.
Essential Job Functions & Expected Outcomes: Your Accountabilities in the Role
A. Ensuring Vehicle and Component Quality Through Accurate Inspection, Documentation, and Collaboration: 100% of the Job
- Performs in-process, final, and incoming inspections on vehicles, components, and materials to verify conformance with specifications, drawings, and customer requirements.
- Uses precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to confirm dimensional accuracy and functional compliance.
- Reads and interprets engineering drawings, quality standards, and inspection criteria to perform thorough evaluations of builds and subassemblies.
- Documents all inspection results, deviations, and corrective actions in accordance with company procedures to ensure traceability and compliance.
- Assists in identifying, containing, and documenting nonconforming material, ensuring timely communication and proper disposition.
- Supports root cause investigations and participates in corrective and preventive action plans to eliminate recurring issues and improve build quality.
- Monitors production processes for adherence to quality standards and provide feedback to supervisors and technicians to address issues proactively.
- Performs vehicle audits and assists with pre-delivery inspections (PDI) to confirm that completed units meet all internal and customer quality expectations.
- Assists with internal audits, data collection, and reporting to support continuous improvement and readiness for external audits.
- Maintains calibration and control of inspection equipment to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.
- Works collaboratively with engineering, production, and materials teams to resolve quality issues, support build readiness, and improve workflow efficiency.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment to uphold Shelby Performance’s commitment to quality, safety, and excellence.
- Supports the Quality Supervisor in implementing new processes, inspection plans, and training initiatives to enhance the overall quality management system.

Position Requirements:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalency preferred.
- Experience: Experience in RV, Trailer, Automotive, Suspension, or Upfitting work preferred; will train the right person who is mechanically inclined. Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices; Dyno, suspension, wiring, electrical, and/or engine modification experience preferred.
- Certification(s): Valid Driver’s License required.
- Functional Skills: Basic mechanical skills or abilities; high attention to detail with an ability to read, understand, and apply procedures, specifications, and work orders. Basic math and measurement skills are required. Critical thinking to solve issues independently or getting assistance to ensure accuracy and quality of work is important. Ability to self-inspect work and make corrections. Will teach in other higher skilled areas, as needed.
- Technology Aptitude/Skills: Ability to use basic computer or tablet.

- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, electronic devices, photocopiers, filing systems/cabinets and fax machines.
- This role frequently uses basic hand tools, including torque wrenches, and other equipment to operate and/or perform maintenance and/or repairs on equipment.
- This role routinely operates equipment, machinery or general facility equipment.
Physical Requirements to Perform Essential Functions:

Environmental Conditions & Travel:
- This position is regularly exposed to a manufacturing environment where the noise level is moderate to high.
- The employee is required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, ear protection, gloves, steel-toe boots, and/or non-slip shoes.
- The position may face exposure to some high-heat areas; variances in temperature including cold in winter; exposure to smells, fumes, working around mechanical parts frequently
- This position may face inclement weather conditions.
