Service Specialists is conducting a confidential direct hire search on behalf of a growing fuel distribution company operating in a highly regulated, multi-state environment. 🔹 About the Role

This is primarily a fuel tax compliance position, not a traditional accounting role. The right candidate will spend the majority of their time researching multi-state fuel tax regulations, preparing and filing returns, and keeping the company ahead of licensing and reporting deadlines across multiple jurisdictions. General accounting support (AP, reconciliations) rounds out the role.

🔹 What You'll Be Doing

Fuel Tax Compliance (Primary Focus):

• Research, interpret, and apply multi-state fuel tax regulations to real-world filings

• Prepare and file multi-state fuel tax returns, including UEL and related regulatory filings

• Maintain state licensing and regulatory compliance across jurisdictions

• Track and meet all regulatory filing deadlines

• Maintain organized compliance documentation and supporting records

Accounting Support (Secondary):

• Accounts payable entry and payment processing

• Bank and account reconciliations

• General financial documentation and recordkeeping

🔹 What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree required — Accounting preferred

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

• High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy

• Comfortable researching regulations and applying them independently

• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a regulated environment

• Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership

💰 Compensation: $75,000 – $95,000 depending on experience

📍 Location: Mississippi Delta (Hybrid — 1 day/week in office, 4 days remote)
