Flooring Installer Job Overview
We're looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Flooring Installer to join our growing construction team. In this role, you'll install a variety of flooring materials, including hardwood, tile, laminate, and luxury vinyl plank (LVP) with a focus on craftsmanship, precision, and safety. You'll play a key role in transforming client spaces into beautiful, functional environments, working across a mix of residential projects that range from single-room installs to multi-phase renovations.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret construction plans, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately execute flooring layouts and installations
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, leveling, and repairing subfloors to ensure optimal installation conditions
- Measure spaces precisely and cut flooring materials using hand and power tools for a seamless fit
- Install hardwood, tile, vinyl (including LVP), laminate, and carpet flooring to high quality standards
- Remove and reinstall baseboards and trim as part of flooring projects, replacing damaged pieces as needed
- Install transition moldings (e.g., T-molds) between differing flooring surfaces for a clean, finished look
- Perform related tasks such as caulking, trim carpentry, fixture installation, and water damage restoration as needed
- Follow all safety compliance protocols to maintain a safe environment for yourself and your team
- Communicate clearly with project managers and clients regarding scope, timelines, and material needs
Requirements
- Proven experience in flooring installation or related construction work, with a strong grasp of installation techniques across multiple material types
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Working knowledge of construction site safety regulations and best practices
- Comfortable using hand and power tools (saws, drills, trowels, buffers, etc.) safely and efficiently
- Strong measurement and math skills for accurate material estimating and cutting
- Reliable, punctual, and able to manage time across multiple job sites/phases
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with construction estimating and quoting
- Background in the restoration industry, including water damage restoration
- Trim carpentry, cabinet installation, remodeling, concrete finishing, or construction painting skills
- Experience installing luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring specifically, including working with transition moldings and color-matching to existing hardwood
