Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote comfort and independence.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature, ensuring accurate documentation in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Support medical procedures such as catheter care, phlebotomy, medication administration under supervision, and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, memory impairments, or behavioral health needs within memory care or behavioral health units.
- Operate patient lifts like Hoyer lifts safely to prevent injury during transfers and assist with mobility challenges.
- Maintain infection control standards by practicing proper hand hygiene and following HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in acute care, ICU, emergency medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics, hospice care, and post-acute settings to deliver comprehensive patient service.
Skills
- Proven experience working with diverse patient populations including long-term care residents, pediatric patients, individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities requiring home & community care.
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques essential for safe patient care.
- Ability to perform vital signs measurement accurately and recognize abnormal findings requiring escalation.
- Experience in specialized areas such as ICU (Intensive Care Unit), Level I & II Trauma Centers, Level I Trauma Center experience, or sub-acute care settings is highly desirable.
- Strong caregiving skills with a focus on geriatrics, dementia care, hospice support, behavioral health management, and emergency response procedures.
- Competence in using medical equipment like Hoyer lifts and understanding infection prevention protocols.
