Responsibilities
The Nursing Open Lab Coordinator is a part-time role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Nursing Open Laboratory sessions. This includes ensuring efficient use of equipment, maintaining a safe working environment, and providing support to participants during open lab. The Open Lab Coordinator works closely with the Director of the Nursing Simulation Center and faculty to schedule training, remediation, and skills validation of students during Open Lab sessions.
Essential Functions
This position is not eligible for Veterans' Preference.
Pay Benefits And Work Schedule
$32.14 hourly up to 26 hours per week.
Conditions of Employment
Finalists and individuals recommended for employment at Seminole State College must reside in the State of Florida at the time of hire and may be subject to background investigations and fingerprinting in compliance with Florida Statute 1001.64; and Seminole State College Policy 1.020; 2.020. Criminal background checks and fingerprinting will be conducted for all new employees, and for rehired employees who have had a break in service for one year or more. The Office of Human Resources will determine which background checks shall be conducted for each position, based upon its review of job descriptions and the responsibilities of the position. These include, but are not limited to, positions that have access to money, master keys, security-sensitive areas and confidential information; positions that have the capability to create, delete, and alter records; and positions that are responsible for the care and instruction of children. The College will conduct various types of background checks which may include, but are not limited to: criminal background, credit check, driver's license check, previous employment and references.

Essential Functions
- Manages the scheduling of nursing students and Clinical Lab Assistants during Open Lab.
- Monitors lab usage and adjust operations to optimize efficiency during Open Lab.
- Provides support to students, faculty, and Clinical Lab Assistants during Open Lab.
- Ensures compliance with standard operating procedures for equipment.
- Oversees equipment maintenance during Open Lab sessions.
- Orients new Clinical Lab Assistants to open lab processes and procedures.
- Ensures proper storage and restocking of supplies.
- Provides technical assistance to users on equipment and mannequin operation.
- Assists with training for new users.
- Assists with data entry of students and faculty into ProjectConcert and EHR Tutor.
- Assists with the daily set-up and take-down of equipment and supplies.
- Acts as a liaison between the Open Lab staff and Director, Nursing Simulation Center, Dean of Nursing, and faculty.
- Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.
- Associate degree in nursing from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.
- Unencumbered active Florida RN license.
- Two (2) years of clinical nursing experience and working in a nursing skills lab.
- Prioritization skills to manage multiple projects
- Equipment and mannequin operating and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent MS Office and data entry skills.
- Ability to exhibit a professional courteous demeanor and interact effectively with staff, faculty, and supervisors.
- Committed to working in a multicultural environment.
- Works in a classroom/laboratory setting.
- Must be able to lift, move, carry, and arrange equipment and mannequins up to 30 pounds with assistance.
- Required to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
