What are the responsibilities and job description for the VP Platform Operations position at Selby Jennings?
VP of Platform Operations
Location: NYC, Atlanta, or Remote (EST or CST time zones preferred)
Salary: flexible, ~$200-250k plus equity
Client/Job Summary:
Our client is building a property management platform and is seeking a VP of Platform Operations to build and run the shared operating backbone.
The team is looking for a high-impact operator who can act as a true "engine for execution" across a growing, acquisition-driven platform. Rather than a pure integration specialist, they want a well-rounded business athlete who can take ambiguous, high-level priorities and translate them into structured work streams driving alignment, accountability, and results across back office/shared services functions, including accounting, operations, IT, systems, and field teams.
They're targeting a well-rounded, commercially minded operator with strong foundational training and hands-on experience in multi-site or PE-backed environments, preferably working with multifamily properties. Someone who has operated at scale, is a strong project manager and people person, can operationalize the funnel, manage internal and external stakeholders, and can challenge leadership when needed.
This position offers the chance to work on high-impact projects, drive efficiency across the business, and a path to COO as the company scales. We are looking for a builder-operator who has integrated messy businesses, made hard calls, and stayed to run what they built.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- 12-18 years of operating experience, ideally in a PE-backed, founder-led, acquisitive, or multi-site services business.
- Ideal background is multifamily operating experience at scale, with exposure to large portfolios, change management, and real people leadership
- Experience managing multiple back-office functions or functional leaders across areas like accounting, HR, IT, systems, shared services, or business operations.
- Experience with post-acquisition integration, including owning org design, people decisions, systems, process, and implementation.
- A track record of consolidating teams, workflows, vendors, systems, or geographies into a more scalable operating model.
- Enough technical fluency to personally drive system evaluation and implementation.
- Strong written communication and the discipline to document playbooks, decision logs, metrics, and operating cadences as the company scales.
Salary : $200,000 - $250,000
