What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head of Capital Formation position at Selby Jennings?
An emerging long-biased equity hedge fund manager in New York is looking for their first Head of Fundraising hire to lead capital formation efforts as the firm continues to scale. The firm is managing just under $300mn in assets and has been around since 2019. This individual will work closely with the Founder/CIO on all marketing strategy and initiatives.
- Lead all capital raising initiatives across institutional and high-net-worth channels, including family offices, RIAs, endowments, and foundations
- Develop and execute a targeted fundraising strategy aligned with the firm's growth objectives
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective investors; manage the full sales lifecycle from sourcing through close
- Drive the firm's marketing and positioning strategy, articulating a clear and differentiated investment narrative
- Oversee the development of all investor materials (pitchbooks, DDQs, fact sheets, investor letters)
- Serve as the primary point of contact for current and prospective investors
- Partner closely with the Founder/PM on strategic planning, investor messaging, and product evolution
- Help establish processes, systems, and infrastructure to support a growing LP base
- 8-15 years of experience in capital raising, institutional sales, or investor relations within hedge funds
- Proven track record of raising capital, particularly for emerging or growing managers
- Strong relationships across family offices, HNWI, and institutional allocators
- Deep understanding of equity long/short or long-biased strategies
- Exceptional communication and storytelling ability, with strong commercial instincts
- Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to operate in a lean, build-oriented environment
Salary : $250,000 - $300,000
