Director of Accounting
Location: New York, NY
Job Type: Hybrid, 3 days in office
Salary: $160-200k base bonus
Client/Job Summary:
An international manufacturer is seeking a Director of Accounting lead the accounting department for a growing CPG organization. This individual will play a key role in leading technical accounting functions, strengthening financial processes, supporting decision-making across the firm, and helping the company scale effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the close process end-to-end, ensuring timelines are met and outputs are accurate.
- Review areas including reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis.
- Partner closely with commercial teams to support areas such as customer deductions, revenue recognition, promotional accruals, and trade spend accounting.
- Prepare internal management reporting packages and external lender/shareholder reporting as needed.
- Build and strengthen internal controls across accounting processes.
- Be the primary point of contact for auditors and assist with external reporting and compliance.
- Lead and develop members of the accounting team while helping to build a scalable structure.
- Identify opportunities for system improvements and automation, including enhancements to current ERP tools.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in accounting or finance. CPA preferred.
- 8 years of experience in technical accounting with experience in revenue recognition, standard costing, inventory accounting, and trade spend.
- 3 years of leadership experience required.
- Familiarity with FP&A – budgeting and forecasting, treasury, COGS/inventory, internal controls.
- Experience in PE-backed, multi-entity, and/or international environments preferred.
- Exposure to supply chain finance, demand planning, and working capital optimization preferred.
- Prior experience in CPG, food & beverage, manufacturing, or retail product companies strongly preferred.
- ERP experience required (NetSuite and/or Oracle preferred).
Salary : $160,000 - $200,000
