Job Title: Controller

Overview

The Controller is responsible for overseeing the organization’s accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with applicable regulations. This role plays a key part in streamlining financial processes, improving efficiency, and proactively identifying opportunities to enhance financial performance and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

• Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, fixed assets, and month-end close
• Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Prepare financial reports and insights for leadership to support business decisions

Process Improvement & Optimization

• Evaluate existing accounting and finance processes and identify opportunities to streamline, automate, and improve efficiency
• Implement best practices, controls, and scalable processes as the organization grows
• Partner with leadership to propose new ideas, tools, and workflows to improve financial visibility and accuracy

Controls, Compliance & Risk Management

• Maintain and enhance internal controls to safeguard company assets
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant regulatory requirements
• Coordinate audits and act as the primary point of contact with external auditors and tax advisors

Leadership & Collaboration

• Manage, mentor, and develop accounting staff (if applicable)
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, HR, and leadership teams
• Serve as a trusted financial partner, translating complex financial data into clear insights

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required)
• Proven experience in accounting or finance, ideally in a Controller or senior accounting role
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
• Experience improving or redesigning accounting processes
• Proficiency with accounting systems and Excel; ERP experience a plus
