Segrera Associates is recruiting for an Accountant on behalf of a well-established and reputable organization in the Sarasota, FL area. The Staff Accountant will work closely with accounting leadership, supporting daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end close activities.
This role is fully on-site in Sarasota, FL. Candidates must be local to the area or willing to commute.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Prepare and maintain bank and balance sheet reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies.
- Assist with general ledger maintenance, account analysis, and financial reporting.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules, prepaid expenses, and related accounting records.
- Monitor daily cash activity and assist with cash reconciliations and reporting.
- Support intercompany accounting activities and ensure accurate recording of transactions.
- Assist with monthly financial statement preparation and variance analysis.
- Partner with accounting leadership on special projects and process improvements.
- Maintain accurate financial records and support internal accounting controls.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 1-3 years of general accounting experience, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Healthcare industry accounting experience preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and basic accounting principles.
- Experience preparing bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
