Controller/Accounting Manager - Construction Business Operations - BILINGUAL IN SPANISH REQUIRED
Position Summary: Responsible for the integrity and veracity of the financial transactions of the company, preparing financial statements that are produced on time and representing accurate data.
Essential Functions:
* Assist with the preparation of financial and statistical statements and reports.
* Analyze financial information to identify discrepancies.
* Research and resolving discrepancies in a timely fashion.
* Solid knowledge of job costing accounting ( construction industry ).
* Interpret and apply accounting policies, rules, and regulations to all work in order to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
* Compile and prepare routine reports, GL postings and summaries.
* Monthly close duties include posting journal entries, accruals and reclasses, high volume account reconciliations and variance analysis.
* Supervise all cash applications and reconciliations, including bank reconciliations and intercompany transactions.
* Assist with inventory counts and evaluation, if required.
* Maintain fixed assets and assets financing schedules.
* Provide guidance and orientation to accounts receivable and accounts payable teams as needed.
* Support on external audits and review.
* Other tasks and duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
* Associate degree in accounting with at least 10 years of relevant work experience
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Strong problem-solving skills and work ethics
* Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Required Skills, Knowledge & Competencies:
* Solid knowledge of IFRS and/or USGAAP reporting requirements, especially IFRS 15 or ASC 606 (mandatory)
* At least 5 years of experience in the construction industry and elaborating Work in Progress report and Percentage of Completion methodology.
* Advanced analytical, organization, and interpersonal skills.
* Advanced spreadsheet skills are required.
* Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal - SPANISH REQUIRED
* Able to break down problems into meaningful parts and come to rational and well-thought-out conclusions.
* Attention to detail and accuracy.
* Willing to adapt quickly to quick changes in direction.
* Internally motivated to seek out answers, generate ideas, and develop solutions
