The HRB is hiring a highly motivated individual with technical and organizational skills to join our Personnel Transactions team as a full-time, permanent Personnel Technician I. Under supervision of the Supervisor I for the Personnel Transactions Section (PTS) within the HRB, the Personnel Technician I (PT I) is responsible for handling a variety of technical and administrative tasks related to the Management Services Division (MSD) and Human Resources Bureau (HRB) at the Secretary of State (SOS). The Personnel Technician provides guidance to employees regarding general timekeeping policies and procedures including but not limited to: reviewing Leave Accounting Balances (LAB) and Std. 634 Time sheets, generating Request for Personnel Actions (RPA) for recruitments, and assisting in the collection of documents on behalf of the division. The incumbent will also assist in providing guidance on requirements of civil service law and regulations as it relates to Benefits and Onboarding, Leave Accounting, Probationary Reports, Official Personnel Files, etc.
The incumbent is required to have the ability to research laws, regulations, policy manuals and bargaining unit contracts and provide technical guidance to all staff. The incumbent will be expected to follow instructions and work under pressure to meet deadlines, consult with internal partners; prepare correspondence and develop general procedures, exercise a high degree of initiative, independence of action and demonstrate tact and good judgment; communicate procedures and HRB guidelines effectively, maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with all levels of staff; demonstrate independent responsibility for decisions and actions having broad implications on various aspects of personnel management. Maintain regular, consistent and predictable attendance.
