We currently have a very exciting opportunity available with our client for a Meteorologist in Goodyear, AZ . This will be a 12 -month contract role with limited travel required (less than 25%).

The Meteorologist plays a crucial role in providing operational meteorological support for global operations. This position is responsible for delivering accurate, timely weather forecasts and analyses that enable the organization to effectively manage weather-related impacts to personnel, operations, and assets.

The ideal candidate possesses expertise in operational meteorology and weather forecasting. This knowledge will be instrumental in supporting the organization’s day-to-day operations through weather monitoring, forecasting, analysis, and communication of meteorological information to stakeholders. The ability to synthesize and communicate complex meteorological information clearly and concisely is essential.

The Meteorologist must be prepared to brief operational leadership and provide critical weather information under time constraints.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail when interpreting meteorological data, and the ability to apply meteorological knowledge to identify and communicate weather-related risks proactively. Experience working in an operational meteorology environment is valuable, as is the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze global weather patterns for Days 1–7 to identify potentially impactful weather events
  • Prepare and deliver weather briefings twice weekly, with additional briefings and escalation products as needed
  • Issue weather alerts and escalation products for global stakeholders
  • Verify past forecasts and conduct forecast accuracy analysis to improve performance
  • Answer stakeholder questions regarding upcoming weather events and potential impacts
  • Utilize meteorological data systems, satellite imagery, radar, and numerical weather prediction models
  • Apply Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools (e.g., ESRI, QGIS, Google Earth) to visualize and communicate weather risks
  • Provide clear, actionable weather briefings to audiences ranging from 25 to 100 participants
  • Communicate complex meteorological information concisely to operational teams and leadership
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to assess and mitigate weather-related operational risks
  • Maintain accurate meteorological records and documentation
  • Support special projects and operational weather initiatives as assigned
  • Follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and independently issue weather products
  • Adjust workload and priorities in response to high-impact weather events
  • Work flexible shifts as needed to ensure continuous operational support

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or related field
  • Professional operational meteorology experience may substitute for degree requirements
  • 1 year of professional experience as an operational meteorologist and/or forecaster (3 years preferred)
  • Proven weather forecasting experience in an operational environment
  • Experience using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) such as ESRI, QGIS, or Google Earth
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in interpreting meteorological data
  • Experience with satellite, radar, and numerical weather prediction models
  • Experience conducting forecast verification and quality control analysis
  • Ability to independently prepare and deliver briefings to large virtual audiences (25–100 people)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage shifting priorities
  • Comfortable working during high-impact weather events
  • Experience in public, private, or military meteorology environments preferred
  • Demonstrated sense of ownership and strong customer-focused mindset

Pay Range

  • The pay range for this position is $ 42.94 to $ 47.94 per hour . Compensation will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This rate is subject to change.
