POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Circulating Registered Nurse works in collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and operating room staff to maintain a safe and efficient surgical environment for patients undergoing outpatient surgical procedures. This role is responsible for coordinating patient care throughout the surgical process while ensuring compliance with clinical, safety, and sterile field standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepare operating rooms, surgical supplies, medications, and equipment for scheduled procedures
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure operating room readiness throughout the surgical day
• Assist with medication preparation and controlled substance documentation in accordance with physician orders
• Provide patient support and advocacy before, during, and after surgical procedures
• Monitor equipment functionality and coordinate troubleshooting of defective supplies or equipment
• Support quality improvement initiatives, staff education, policy compliance, and surgical best practices
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Active Maine Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• BSN or degree from an accredited Registered Nursing program required
• Minimum of one year of nursing experience or one year of operating room experience required
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required within six months of hire
• Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, medication administration, surgical protocols, and patient safety standards
