Blow Mold Operator

Summary

Assembles products, monitors the production process and ensures that products meet quality standards. Documents and records all observations made on the plant floor and tests and measures various products to verify the fulfillment of quality standard.

Essential Functions

• Sets up and operates blow molding machine to mold plastic products according to specifications.
• Closes chamber to mold product under heat and pressure.
• Moves machine controls to set timing unit and temperature of heating unit and start automatic material circuit.
• Turns valves to start flow of water and release air pressure to machine.
• Removes product from mold after timing device opens mold inspecting the quality of the product.
• Trims excess material from product using knife.
• Scraps/regrinds excess material.
• Maintains a clean machine and surrounding areas.

• Keeps stock of materials/products for machine/equipment and replenishes when needed.
• Other duties, as assigned.

Essential Physical Functions

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often sitting or standing for prolonged periods.
• Can lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to transport oneself up and down inclines, slopes, steps and platforms.
• Ability to maneuver around operating equipment and machinery.
• Ability to operate powered and non-powered tools, equipment, production machinery and office machinery.
• Ability to reach within hand and arm length, bend and stoop.
• Can withstand manufacturing working conditions.

Physical Demands / Environmental Factors and Conditions

• All tasks and responsibilities require working in a non-climate controlled manufacturing plant. – (exposure to disagreeable conditions typical to a manufacturing plant.)
• When in the plant Personal Protective Equipment includes but is not limited to: safety footwear, eye, head, hearing and hand protection.
• Performs duties in and around moving mechanical parts.
• Performs duties in a non-climate controlled manufacturing plant.
• Wet and humid conditions at times.
• High noise environment.
• Exposure to dust.
• May be subject to hazardous chemicals and fumes.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• 0-3 years of related experience.
• Must have high initiative and be self-motivated
• Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills
• Ability to comprehend and apply direction from written and verbal instructions, policies, guidelines and other instructional material related to job tasks and assignments.
