Manufacturing Shift Supervisor - Hazelton, PA
Summary
A Shift Supervisor is in charge of all safety, quality, and production goals and expectations on his/her shift. This person keeps an eye on what everyone is doing at all times. A Shift Supervisor sets up work schedules, delegates tasks, organizes production to meet production goals, monitors the safety, quality, performance, attendance, and work practices of the production staff. This person is responsible for ensuring that all products being manufactured and shipped are accurate to SCS specs. This person is responsible for the accuracy of the shifts production work orders. Supervisors streamline the production process, keep costs down, decrease errors, meet deadlines, oversee, train and develop employees on a given shift. The Shift Supervisor is expected to know how to operate and run production equipment.
Essential Functions
- Sets and clearly communicates goals and objectives for production staff.
- Creates and delegates work schedules and tasks based on production need.
- Ensures quality and accuracy of production orders.
- Monitors time and attendance.
- Accurately documents, records and reports all matters related to employees and production.
- Immediately tends to and creates work orders for downed machines and other maintenance issues.
- Reviews and comprehends the BOM before production begins. Ensures compliance to doing first piece/last piece check on all orders to ensure compliance to SCS specs.
- Monitors, controls and reduces scrap.
- Communicates with and ensures compliance with all directives from the Production Manager, Plant Manager and the Company.
- Provides quality onboarding and training for new hires and new temporary employees.
- Is knowledgeable of the operation of all production equipment and can operate in a safe and responsible manner.
- Provides quality assistance, training and support to production employees and temporary employees on a daily basis.
- Creates and provides a positive and motivating work environment and retains high performing employees.
- Ensures compliance with employment laws and SCS policies at all times, immediately reporting to Management and issuing disciplinary actions, fairly and consistently, to those employees who violate any laws and Company policies.
- Ensures all employees are performing work safely, have PPE available and are following all safety protocol and precautions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Knowledge of assembly line manufacturing.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of employees in a diverse environment.
- Skill in organizing and delegating work.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to analyze manufacturing processes and identify solutions.
- Ability to organize one’s own work and ensure timely completion of duties.
- Basic proficiency with Word, Excel and Email.
- Ability to calmly assess emergency situations and quickly identify appropriate action.
- Basic proficiency with Word, Excel and Email.

Qualifications
- Minimum HS Diploma. A 2-year Associates degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of related supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Must have general knowledge of assembly line manufacturing
- Must have basic computer proficiency with Word, Excel, and Email. SAP knowledge is a huge plus.
- Machine maintenance and processing knowledge a huge plus.
- Bilingual Spanish and English a plus.
