Custodian

Summary

Performs general cleaning and janitorial duties in the common areas of the assigned building(s).

Essential Functions

• Removes trash from all receptacles around the facility.
• Cleans restrooms, locker rooms.
• Cleans break rooms, kitchen areas, and offices.
• Sweeps, vacuums, mops, buffs, and waxes flooring.
• Dusts all areas of facility.

Essential Physical Functions

• Can remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
• Can reach within hands and arms-length, bend and stoop.
• Can lift up to 50 lbs.
• Can withstand manufacturing working conditions.
• Can work with cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to operate powered and non-powered cleaning equipment.
• Ability to transport oneself through the plant and office building(s) including up and down inclines, slopes, steps and platforms.
• Ability to reach within hand and arm length, bend and stoop.
• Ability to assess and inspect working area and conditions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• Must be detail-oriented.
• Must understand and be able to follow proper sanitation procedures and guidelines.

Physical Demands / Environmental Factors and Conditions

• All tasks and responsibilities require working in a non-climate controlled manufacturing plant. – (exposure to disagreeable conditions typical to a manufacturing plant.)
• When in the plant Personal Protective Equipment includes but is not limited to: safety footwear, eye, head, hearing and hand protection.
• Performs duties in and around moving mechanical parts.
• Performs duties in a non-climate controlled manufacturing plant.
• Wet and humid conditions at times.
• High noise environment.
• Exposure to dust.
• May be subject to hazardous chemicals and fumes.
