The CDL-A Driver is responsible for driving company trucks with flatbed trailers and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Deliver and pick up finished aluminum materials and products while providing excellent customer service.
Essential Functions
- CDL-A: Drive trucks with capacities greater than 26,001 with flatbed trailers.
- Understand and ensure consistent compliance with all federal, state and local laws / regulations, and company policies / procedures regarding the FMCSA.
- Perform upkeep on mobile equipment.
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
- Maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations
- Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods (electronic).
- Inventory and inspect goods to be moved to determine quantities and conditions.
- Consistently provides prompt and courteous service to customers.
- Communicate to customers and coworkers in a clear and professional manner.
- Secure cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers and Protects materials from weather, as needed.
- Perform daily pre-trip/post-trip vehicle inspections and reports any safety issues immediately.
- Maintain company equipment inside/out in order to ensure both cleanliness and safety.
- Must have effective communication skills in order to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, and to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Must be able to interact in person with coworkers and the public.
- Must be able to handle high stress situations.
- Work overtime as required.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
