SALARY RANGE & CATEGORY: $16.56/hour (depending on experience) on Classified Hourly Salary Schedule

POSITION SUMMARY: The Resource Paraeducator assists certified staff in providing instructional and behavioral support to students with disabilities. The paraeducator works with students individually or in small groups to support academic progress, reinforce instruction, and help students develop independence and appropriate classroom behaviors.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Instructional Support
- Assist the special education teacher with implementing instructional activities aligned with IEP goals
- Work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce academic concepts
- Support students in accessing grade-level curriculum
- Assist with accommodations and modifications for assignments and assessments
- Support students with organization, task completion, and engagement
- Reinforce positive behavior and classroom expectations
- Assist with behavior intervention plans when needed
- Assist with preparation of instructional materials and resources
- Supervise students during instructional activities as directed by the teacher
- Maintain a structured and supportive learning environment
- Assist in collecting data on student progress toward IEP goals
- Maintain accurate records as directed by the teacher
- Work collaboratively with teachers, specialists, and administrators
- Participate in meetings or training as assigned
- Communicate student concerns or progress to supervising staff
- Hold an Associates or higher degree
- Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Experience working with children or youth
- Successfully pass the Work Keys test (through the Workforce Center) for Reading Information, Mathematics and Business Writing.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Experience working with students with disabilities
- Knowledge of behavior support strategies
- Experience in a school or classroom setting
- Ability to work effectively with students with diverse learning needs
- Basic understanding of instructional support strategies
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student information
- Ability to follow directions and work under teacher supervision
- School classroom and resource room environments
- Frequent interaction with students, teachers, and staff
- Active supervision of students throughout the school day
- Ability to move throughout school building and classroom
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds

Caliche Elementary and Caliche Jr/Sr High School, located outside Iliff, CO, are a part of RE-1 Valley School District. The District Administration Center is located in Sterling, CO (Logan County) in the Northeastern corner of Colorado on Interstate 76 alongside the Platte River. Having the largest population, approximately 13,900, in Logan County and much of the surrounding area, Sterling offers shopping, restaurants, numerous parks, a recreation center, access to medical care and is located near North Sterling Reservoir. Sterling is approximately 1 1/2 hours from Denver International Airport and 2 hours from Denver and the Front Range (I-25 corridor).
