Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Resident Support Aide to join our team!
The Resident Support Aide provides supportive, non-licensed, non-certified assistance to nursing staff in the delivery of resident care within a long-term care facility. The position focuses on resident comfort, safety, dignity, and quality of life while assisting Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and licensed nursing staff with routine non-clinical tasks.
The position serves as an entry-level pathway toward CNA certification.
Duties and Responsibilities: Duties are determined by Scenic Living Communities’ needs and may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assists residents with non-clinical activities of daily living as outlined in the care plan
- Maintain, improve and/or enhance each resident’s quality of care and quality of life
- Document non-clinical tasks
- Reports changes in resident’s condition immediately to the Charge Nurse
- Pass linens
- Change bed linens and/or make beds
- Assist with passing of snack carts
- Assist with meal service and passing of room trays
- Answer call lights, assist residents with non-clinical tasks, and promptly communicate resident needs to the nursing staff
- Escort residents to meals, activities, therapy, and appointments
- Monitor high risk residents to prevent falls
- Conduct evening activities as needed
- Maintain clean, organized resident rooms and common areas
- Replenish supplies in resident rooms
- Clean and sanitize equipment (wheelchairs, walkers, bedside tables, lift slings)
- Remove trash and soiled linens following infection control protocols
- Answer phone
- Attends and participates in facility meetings and in-service training programs as assigned
- Follows and upholds policies and procedures with a special focus on safety policies
- Follows infection control guidelines
- Observes residents’ rights including, but not limited to, privacy, dignity, and confidentiality, thereby helping to providing quality care and a quality life to each resident
- Promotes positive public relations with residents, family members and guests
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Charge Nurse, Director of Nursing and/or the Executive Director
Qualifications: CNA certification is not required at time of hire. Must obtain Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification within six (6) months of employment OR be enrolled in the first available CNA training course. Must be at least 16 years of age. This role does not perform duties requiring CNA certification or nursing licensure and works under the direct supervision of licensed nursing staff.
