Sarmal, Inc. is an innovative biotech company based in San Diego, California developing revolutionary genomics platforms that aim to transform the fields of genetic testing and sequencing. We are seeking a Technical Program Manager to drive cross-functional program execution for the TEEM platform. This individual will interface with engineering, assay development, software, operations, and quality teams to lead project planning, tracking, resource allocation, and meeting facilitation. The Technical Program Manager will help develop and administer the product development process, ensuring that key activities are anticipated well in advance and prioritized to keep the program on track from concept through commercial launch.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead cross-functional program planning, scheduling, and execution for TEEM platform development activities.
- Serve as core team lead, facilitating regular team meetings, design reviews, and executive program updates.
- Develop and maintain integrated program schedules, identifying dependencies, critical path activities, and resource constraints.
- Drive resource allocation discussions across engineering disciplines, ensuring teams are appropriately staffed and prioritized.
- Implement and administer the product development process, ensuring phase gate activities, deliverables, and reviews are planned and completed on schedule.
- Proactively identify program risks and develop mitigation plans in collaboration with functional leads.
- Track and communicate program status, key milestones, and escalation of items to leadership and stakeholders.
- Coordinate cross-functional activities including design verification, design transfer, and regulatory submissions.
- Facilitate decision-making by ensuring the right information is available to the right stakeholders at the right time.
- Drive continuous improvement of program management tools, templates, and processes.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience as a Technical Program Manager or Technical Project Manager bringing a product through the full development lifecycle.
- Strong understanding of stage-gate or phase-gate product development processes.
- Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional programs with multiple parallel workstreams.
- Excellent project planning skills including schedule development, critical path analysis, resource planning, and risk management.
- Strong meeting facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to drive alignment across diverse technical teams.
- Experience with program management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, or equivalent).
- Experience with IVD development.
- Familiarity with IVD regulatory requirements (FDA 510(k), ISO 13485, design controls) preferred.
- Technical background and/or technical fluency in key concepts relating to molecular diagnostics.
- PMP or equivalent certification is a plus.
Education:
- B.S. or M.S. in Engineering, Life Sciences, or related technical field.
- Minimum experience of 8 years with B.S. or 6 years with M.S.
- Minimum 3 years as a Program Manager or Project Manager.
Salary Range:
- $150,000-205,000
