Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician – Ammonia Refrigeration to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment while supporting the safe operation of the facility's ammonia refrigeration system. This role is essential in ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and maintaining a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production and facility equipment.
- Monitor, inspect, and assist in maintaining the ammonia refrigeration system.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
- Perform routine inspections of compressors, pumps, motors, conveyors, refrigeration equipment, and utilities.
- Complete preventive maintenance schedules and accurately document work performed using the CMMS system.
- Follow all OSHA, FDA, GMP, HACCP, SQF, and company safety policies and procedures.
- Assist with equipment installations, modifications, and continuous improvement projects.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate equipment issues to supervisors.
- Support production by ensuring equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance work area.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in a food manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience with industrial ammonia refrigeration systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Preferred Qualifications
- RETA certification (CARO, CIRO, or equivalent) is an advantage.
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting and automated manufacturing equipment.
- Experience in snack food, bakery, confectionery, chocolate, or protein bar manufacturing.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
