Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the overall financial management, strategic planning, and financial performance of the organization. The CFO will oversee accounting, financial reporting, treasury, budgeting, inventory and cost accounting, tax compliance, banking relationships, capital expenditure planning, and risk management. This executive will play a critical role in scaling manufacturing operations, improving profitability, and supporting future acquisitions and expansion projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Financial Leadership
- Develop and execute the company's financial strategy to support growth and profitability.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and ownership group.
- Support acquisitions, facility expansions, capital investments, and strategic partnerships.
- Evaluate business performance and identify opportunities to improve margins and operational efficiency.
Manufacturing Finance & Cost Accounting
- Oversee standard costing, inventory valuation, and manufacturing cost accounting.
- Analyze labor, material, overhead, and production variances.
- Monitor production efficiencies, yield improvements, waste reduction, and overall plant performance.
- Partner with Operations and Supply Chain teams to improve manufacturing profitability.
- Establish KPIs for plant performance, inventory management, and cost control.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes.
- Develop financial models for new product launches, capital projects, and expansion initiatives.
- Prepare monthly management reports and performance dashboards.
- Analyze profitability by product line, customer, and channel.
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Oversee general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Manage external audits and financial statement preparation in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Implement and maintain strong internal controls and financial governance.
Treasury & Banking
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity requirements.
- Maintain banking and lender relationships.
- Negotiate credit facilities, equipment financing, and working capital financing.
- Oversee foreign exchange exposure and international financial transactions.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Coordinate tax planning and filing activities.
- Oversee insurance, corporate risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain effective financial policies and procedures.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and develop the Accounting and Finance team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Sales, and Human Resources.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- CPA required; MBA preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of senior financial leadership experience, including at least 5 years in food manufacturing, bakery, snack, confectionery, beverage, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturing.
- Strong expertise in manufacturing cost accounting, inventory management, and operational finance.
- Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
- Proven experience managing banking relationships and debt financing.
- Experience supporting acquisitions, facility startups, or major expansion projects preferred.
- Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
