Rising Sophomore: $17.00 per hour
Rising Junior: $18.00 per hour
Rising Senior: $19.00 per hour

Internship Overview
This internship provides hands-on experience in biology, chemistry, environmental science, water quality, aquatic resource management, GIS, and environmental data analysis. The selected intern will work alongside experienced environmental professionals and participate in both field and laboratory activities that support Santee Cooper’s environmental programs.
- Internships run from May 17, 2027 - August 6, 2027
- Interns will work 40 hours per week
As an Environmental Science / Biology Intern, you may assist with:
- Collecting water and environmental samples from Santee Cooper project waters and waterways near generating facilities
- Gathering and documenting field data
- Assisting with laboratory analysis of environmental samples
- Supporting water and soil sampling projects
- Supporting Santee Cooper’s aquatic vegetation management program
- Assisting with the development and implementation of aquatic plant control plans
- Participating in field surveys to identify and monitor aquatic vegetation
- Assisting qualified staff with the application of EPA-approved aquatic herbicides
- Maintaining herbicide inventory, storage areas, and program documentation

- Water quality monitoring and analysis
- Aquatic biology and vegetation management
- Environmental sampling techniques
- Laboratory procedures and quality control
- GIS and digital mapping
- Environmental data analysis
- Environmental permitting and regulatory compliance
- NPDES requirements
- Environmental research and field studies
- Natural resource management
Qualified Candidates Must
- Be pursuing a degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Chemistry or a related field
- Have completed their first year at a 2-year college/university (transfer program) or 4-year college/university
- Be enrolled as a full-time student Fall 2027
- Successfully undergo pre-employment physical and drug screen if selected for this position
