Position Summary
Santa Fe South High School is seeking a passionate and skilled High School Math Teacher to teach students in grades 9–12. The ideal candidate believes that all students can achieve in mathematics and is committed to building strong conceptual understanding through problem-solving, student discourse, and meaningful mathematical thinking.
Math teachers at Santa Fe South design engaging lessons that balance conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and real-world application. Teachers collaborate closely with colleagues to analyze student data, refine instruction, and ensure all students are progressing toward mastery.
Essential Responsibilities
Instruction & Student Learning
- Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned mathematics instruction for students in grades 9–12
- Design lessons that emphasize conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving
- Facilitate productive student discourse that allows students to explain thinking, justify strategies, and engage with multiple solution paths
- Use formative and summative assessment data to adjust instruction and close learning gaps
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners and ensure access to grade-level mathematical thinking
Classroom Culture & Student Support
- Establish a positive classroom culture that promotes perseverance, curiosity, and a growth mindset in mathematics
- Set clear expectations for student behavior, participation, and academic effort
- Build strong relationships with students and families to support student success
- Provide targeted intervention and enrichment opportunities to support student mastery
Collaboration & Professional Learning
- Collaborate with the high school math team to plan instruction, analyze student work, and refine teaching practices
- Participate in instructional coaching and professional development focused on effective math instruction
- Contribute to a team culture focused on continuous improvement and student achievement
- Support school-wide initiatives that strengthen student learning and school culture
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Valid Oklahoma teaching certification (or willingness/eligibility to obtain certification) in Secondary Mathematics
- Strong content knowledge in high school mathematics (such as Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, or higher-level math courses)
- Demonstrated ability to design rigorous and engaging mathematics instruction
- Commitment to data-driven instruction and continuous professional growth
- Experience teaching secondary mathematics strongly preferred
