Position Overview
Keep the resort moving — literally. As a Vehicle Mechanic, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the fleet that keeps daily operations running smoothly, from shuttle buses and guest transportation vehicles to maintenance trucks and utility carts. This hands-on position is perfect for someone who enjoys diagnosing problems, working with their hands, and being part of a team that delivers safe, reliable service across a dynamic resort environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, service, and repair resort fleet vehicles including shuttle buses, vans, trucks, utility carts, and light equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance such as oil changes, brake service, tire rotations, inspections, and system checks
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fuel system issues
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, parts inventory, and maintenance schedules
- Conduct daily and periodic safety inspections to ensure vehicles meet operational and regulatory standards
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop and storage areas
- Assist with managing parts inventory and anticipating supply needs to minimize downtime
- Collaborate with department leaders to prioritize vehicle readiness and minimize operational disruptions
- Follow all OSHA and resort safety guidelines and promote a culture of workplace safety
- Stay current on evolving vehicle technology and repair techniques through ongoing training opportunities
- Support emergency repairs and other duties as assigned to maintain smooth resort operations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training in automotive or diesel mechanics preferred
- Previous experience maintaining fleet vehicles, buses, light trucks, or commercial equipment strongly preferred
- Knowledge of diagnostic tools, vehicle systems, and preventative maintenance practices
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and safety procedures
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL or ability to obtain may be preferred depending on fleet needs
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Work performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach for extended periods
- Get to tight spaces as needed
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and push/pull equipment or components up to 200 lbs.
- Manual dexterity required to operate hand tools, power tools, lifts, and diagnostic equipment
- Ability to work around moving vehicles, machinery, and in a fast-paced operational environment
- Requires visual acuity, hearing ability, and clear communication with team members
- Ability to respond to urgent repair needs and work flexible schedules including weekends or holidays as needed
- Must be safety conscious
