Position Summary
The Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and plating menu items according to Beach House recipes and Sandestin standards. This hands-on role requires efficiency, consistency, and attention to detail in a fast-paced indoor and outdoor beachfront kitchen. The ideal candidate works well in a team environment and thrives under pressure while maintaining quality and presentation standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and presentation standards
- Maintain quality, consistency, and portion control for all dishes
- Assist with prep work including chopping, portioning, and ingredient preparation
- Set up and stock workstations prior to service
- Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs to the kitchen leadership
- Ensure all food is stored, labeled, and rotated according to safety standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and prep areas
- Follow all sanitation, food safety, and health regulations
- Collaborate with culinary and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service
- Assist with closing duties including cleaning, stocking, and resetting stations
- Adapt to menu changes, special requests, and high-volume periods
- Support a positive, team-oriented kitchen culture
Qualifications
- Previous cook or line experience preferred, especially in a high-volume or resort setting
- Knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety, and kitchen operations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure under pressure
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Dependable, punctual, and guest-focused
- Flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Food Handler certification required (or ability to obtain)
