Brief Description

POSITION SUMMARY

This position will be responsible for project management of pipeline and facility engineering, survey, permit acquisition, ROW, CM&I and consulting services for clients across the United States. The Pipeline Project Manager position offers an exciting opportunity to help our clients provide a safe and reliable source of energy in support of millions of people. Each day the Project Manager will be part of a team working on projects in oil and gas production and transportation that include liquid and natural gas gathering systems, pipeline systems, pump stations, meter stations, and compressor stations. The Project Manager will integrate resourcing, scheduling, budgeting, and quality considerations across the diverse engineering, purchasing, survey, permitting, ROW acquisition, construction and start-up aspects in a variety of projects.

Projects range in size and complexity from small pipelines, utility regulator station upgrades to large pipeline and related facility projects. This position can influence the growth and success of our pipeline expertise.

Pipeline Project Manager

  • Manage the execution of engineering, survey, permitting, ROW acquisition and CM&I activities.
  • Pipeline Project Manager capitalizes on our local oil and gas engineering and design team and drives growth consistent with the overall Business growth strategy. Two primary components to this are:
    • Drive integration of existing local resources into the work to extent possible. Work within our Denver office utilizing local teams that are able to effectively implement pipeline projects.
    • Identify gaps in local skills that are required to meet project requirements, then coordinate and retain accountability for support provided from other offices.
  • The Project Manager is the face of Samuel Engineering and the primary liaison with clients.
  • Advanced project knowledge of linear pipelines, gathering systems, liquid pump stations, compressor stations, and meter stations.
  • The Project Manager shall have a good understanding of the contract that SE has with the client and comply with the contract in project delivery.
  • Project management of projects for utility companies a strong plus.
  • Possesses an engineering background with a mix of office, field, and construction experience; preferably with both or either consulting and operating company experience.
  • Well networked within the industry, with the interest and ability to expand network externally and internally.
  • Experience managing E, EP, EPCM and EPC contract delivery.
  • Experienced with all project life-cycle phases (feasibility through implementation) and associated gated processes.
  • Good general understanding of infrastructure within oil and gas pipeline facilities, and a detailed understanding of key engineering documentation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Work effectively without direct supervision, interface with a variety of people and manage competing demands.
  • Manage client relationships and manage change in project scope in accordance with the SE procedures.
  • Work with Business Development staff to drive development of new client relationships and opportunities.
  • Assemble and lead multidiscipline project teams (engineering, permitting, ROW, survey, construction, startup, commissioning).
  • Achieve project requirements (safety, scope, schedule, budget, quality) for the overall project, not just engineering.
  • Evaluate and report project performance both internally and to the client.
  • Lead in developing total installed cost estimates.
  • Conducts and lead technical or commercial evaluations of material, equipment and construction bids.
  • For proposals and projects, develop the scope of engineering work, schedules, and budgets for the assigned project elements, monitors progress to maintain schedules and budgets; identifies and documents change scope.
  • Lead the development of construction scope of work for pipelines and related facilities and provide reporting for construction earned value tracking of construction progress and associated trends.
  • Comply with applicable regulations and client guidelines for design, project documentation and records.
  • Experience with CFR DOT 192, CFR DOT 195, ASME B31.3, ASME B31.4 and ASME B31.8.
  • Interact with project engineer, discipline leads and/or discipline engineers to ensure compliance with project objectives.
  • Manage bid presentation and opening meetings.
  • Coordinate and communicate deliverables per Client and Company specifications.
  • Follow all company, client, safety and regulatory requirements including, but not limited to, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines as they relate to this position and the work duties being performed.
  • Pipeline design management including alignment sheets, crossing drawings, profiles, details and associated bill of materials.
  • Review the required temporary work-space for HDDs, crossings, bores and pipeline construction. Determine permanent and temporary access easement to construct and maintain the pipeline.
  • Scope of work and coordination to obtain survey, geotechnical investigations, permitting, land acquisition and CM&I services.
  • Provide leadership, training and mentoring to less experienced engineers and team members.
  • Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel.
  • Provide short-term field support during construction.
  • Support business development and marketing initiatives.
  • In a supervisory capacity, develops, coordinates and directs a number of small projects or one large project.
  • Performs other duties as directed by the Pipeline Service Director.
Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS PER JOB LEVEL

  • Pipeline Project Manager – Bachelor’s Degree/Continuing Education; minimum of ten (10) years engineering experience, PE License

Summary

Compensation for this role is determined based on a variety of factors including each candidate’s relevant experience, industry background, education, and demonstrated skills. We strive to offer competitive and equitable pay that reflects the value each individual brings to our team. Final compensation will be discussed during the interview process and may vary within the posted range.

Salary : $110,000 - $170,000
