IEP COORDINATOR
Full Time/Part Time Regular Full Time Total Hours Per Week 35 From Salary $85,000 To Salary $85,000
Job Summary: The IEP/Special Education Coordinator reports directly to the principal and works with the agency’s administrative team, teaching staff, education director, and related service providers to ensure the efficiency and high level of educational and clinical services provided to students. The IEP /Special Education Coordinator provides professional guidance to the teachers, assistant teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers. The IEP /Special Education Coordinator engages in a broad range of activities which support and promote overall programmatic quality, compliance, and efficiency.
Duties & Responsibilities
Receive and review all IEPs (Individualized Education Plans) packets/referrals for placement for accuracy/completion/appropriateness upon receipt from CPSE (Committee of Preschool Special Education). Participate in student intake process and ensure regular communication with district administrators/referral sources. Ensure each teacher and RS provider implements and manages IEP review and submits IEP receipts. Provide IEP related training to teaching staff and RS providers. Participate in IEP meetings, as needed.rovide ongoing communication with families as related to IEP development/referral for placement. Provide regular communication with classrooms and administrative staff regarding submission of reports/components of IEP mandates and requirements. Review Student Quarterly reports, Turning 5 reports, and IEPs. Support teachers and clinicians in developing students’ IEP.
Education & Experience
At least bachelor's academic degree in special education or related field required. Master's degree in special education preferred. NYS certificate in Students with Disabilities (Birth-2nd grade), (1st-6th grades), or a general SWD required. SAS/SBL/SDL certificate or a study plan preferred. 4 years of work experience in young children’s special education. Excellent writing and communication skills. 1 year experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or behavioral management strategies preferred.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time. Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds.
