Job Title: Mainframe z/OS System Programmer
Location: Plano, TX 75024
Job Summary
The Mainframe z/OS System Programmer will be responsible for managing, upgrading, and supporting complex mainframe environments. The role requires hands-on experience in system upgrades, performance tuning, capacity management, and mainframe migrations, as well as collaboration with vendor partners to ensure SLA compliance and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage incident and service requests related to Mainframe technologies such as z/OS.
- Perform and support z/OS version upgrades (e.g., z/OS v2.4, v2.5, v3.1).
- Execute product upgrades for tools such as Omegamon Suite, IBM TWS, IBM System Automation, Tivoli, and NetView.
- Support complex mainframe environments, including LPAR/MIPS management and mainframe migrations.
- Handle mainframe backup and restore operations, including tape-based backups.
- Lead or support datacenter migration and design for mainframe infrastructure.
- Install, configure, and maintain Mainframe LPARS and MIPS systems.
- Manage capacity and performance of mainframe environments and ensure optimal resource utilization.
- Perform remote administration of MIPS and LPARS.
- Collaborate with vendor partners to manage SLAs and enhance reporting, operational policies, and procedures.
Must-Have Technical Skills
- Expertise in z/OS version upgrades (v2.4 / v2.5 / v3.1).
- Proficiency in Omegamon Suite, IBM TWS, IBM System Automation, IBM Tivoli, and NetView upgrades.
- Strong understanding of Mainframe MIPS/LPAR management, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
- Experience in mainframe migrations, datacenter design, and backup/restore processes.
- Ability to work independently and remotely in a mission-critical mainframe environment.
